The
other day, I had the honor of spending time with a woman whose fiance
had suddenly passed away. As I visited with her, I shared the following
words her..."Why love, if losing hurts so much? I have no answers
anymore: only the life I have lived. Twice in that life I've been given
the choice: as a boy and as a man. The boy chose safety, the man chooses
suffering. The pain now is part of the happiness then. That's the
deal." (C.S. Lewis) After I shared those words with her, she wept and
said something like, "Even in this pain, I would do it all over again.
We were so happy."
